It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it was a disappointing period because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive nature take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was out her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played through the pain.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
