Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to win a title is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four early-game chances in a tight third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he earned the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
