Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, lying 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he spun at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the main straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th place, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
